6 homemade remedies for lice

6 Homemade remedies for lice are of the following:

Effective sterilization of hair products:

The first homemade remedy/tip to avoid live is to be aware of anyone owning lice in the family and then keeping all hair products (i.e. hair, combs, hats, hair ribbons and etc) separately so that these items do not come close to any kind of contact with the other person who doesn’t own lice. This will ensure precautionary measures at its finest.

Use of essential oils:

The second homemade remedy is the use of essential oils to kill lice in your hair as well as comfort the itching scalp. There are plenty of remedies that are built up from essential oils. The most known effective combination of essential oils is to mix in 10 drops of rosemary oil, 4 tablespoon of vegetable oil, 20 drops of tea tree oil into 15 drops of lemon, thyme and lavender oil. Once the oil have been mixed thoroughly apply the blended oils into your dry hair. Once applied you can cover your head with a cap and then wrap a towel firmly over your cap. Shampoo well and rinse after a hour has been passed by.

Application of medicated shampoo:

By using a shampoo that is dedicated towards killing the lice is a must do especially for the children safety sake. Leave the shampoo in the hair for about 15 minutes. It is important that the shampoo stays on as long as 15 minutes so that it starts working. So might as well start finding time to do something else while you sit back and let the shampoo start killing those lice.

Sterilization of fabrics:

Another important remedy of treating lice to be killed and avoided in the long terms is to wash all your washable items that have come in contact with the affected person. Make sure that all of the washable items are placed in hot water. The hot water will burn and boil all the lice if there are hiding anywhere. The items that cannot be washed and are non washable items must be sealed in proper plastic bags and placed in a refrigerator for 2 weeks. This step will ensure that all items are now properly sterilized and cannot come in contact with any source of person (affected or none affected).

Mayonnaise to the rescue:

If you’re wary of synthetic pesticides, you may be able to smother lice while you sleep. First, saturate the hair and scalp with mayonnaise, then put on a shower cap. The next morning, lice should be dead. Unfortunately, you can’t smother the louse eggs; you’ll still have to remove them by hand.

Apply Petroleum Jelly to the Hair

Petroleum jelly can have a stifling influence on roaming lice. Apply a thick layer of petroleum jelly to the scalp, and then cover with a shower cap. Leave it on overnight. In the morning, use baby oil or mineral oil to remove the petroleum jelly, and the lice along with it. Repeat several nights in a row. (One warning, though: it may take a lot of shampooing before you get all the petroleum jelly out of your hair.
